I’ve always known that I want to be a mother. From the beginning, I loved mothering my baby dolls. I was a popular babysitter in junior high and high school. I love hanging out with kids, playing games with them and reading to them. Right after college, I was a nanny for two fun little girls, age 2 and 4. I remember long walks with the two year old, stopping to examine every puddle and flower, with an extended stop at the playground for lots of swinging. The four year old and I would have serious talks in the car on the way to nursery school with me answering all kinds of “Why?” questions. They are now beautiful young women who I am proud to still know. I imagined I would have children sooner, but I was waiting for the right husband to come along. I am so happy I held out for Adam. It’s especially wonderful to know what a great dad he will be, because I see how much he loves his son. I also love Eric and love being his stepmother. We have a lot of fun together. And I would love to raise a child from the very beginning. I want to rock my baby to sleep, see the first steps, do the potty-training, tell the bed time stories, sing the alphabet song, and everything all the way up to driving lessons and visiting colleges. |
