Adam on being dad |
|
I’ve loved being a dad from the day my son was born 16 years ago. I remember being there moments after he was delivered. He was crying, but when I touched him he stopped. That’s when I knew that having a child was the right decision for me. I’ve loved my son at every age. When he was an infant, I was amazed at how he would change from week to week, getting bigger and learning new things. Sometimes I would have him nap on my chest. I’m a very active and involved father. As a toddler, Eric and I had fun running around on the playground, reading, and playing games. All through his grade school years, I looked forward to hearing about what he’d learned at school, who he’d played with during recess, and seeing the all the different arts and crafts he created. During junior high and now high school, I’ve cheered at baseball games and talent shows, and I’m still doing my best to keep up with him on video games. Favorite memories: · Taking Eric to Disney World at 5, where he wore his Superman costume from Halloween the entire week. · Watching him on his rollerblades at the skate park (at age 8), going down his first quarter pipe. I was more scared than he was. · Taking him for a windsurfing lesson, where we both spent most of the day falling into the water. · Learning karate at the same time and practicing our moves together There are few other things in my life that have given me as much joy as being a father. I had such a great time the first time, I want to do it again! |
