How we think about parenting |
|
We believe that children should be seen and heard (not the old adage that children should be seen, but not heard). We want to know how our children are feeling and what they want and need. We expect things to be messy at times. We’re committed to listening to each other as a couple and to our children as a family. We’ll bring a sense of fun and creativity to parenting. Leslie loves to read out loud with different voices for different characters. Adam is great at creating stories with courageous heroes on grand adventures. Leslie makes up silly songs to sing and loves a good arts and crafts project. Adam is active and likes to wrestle and play outside. We believe that parenting is one of the most important things we will do in our lives. We’ve each been blessed with loving parents, good educations, good health, and we want to bring our many gifts to a child. We each grew up in homes filled with books, educational toys, and attentive parents willing to teach. Likewise, we believe strongly in supporting our child’s learning in our home and with excellent education. Adam and I each have graduate degrees and will support our children going as far as they want to go in their education. We look forward to supporting our child’s learning and growth. We each lead workshops and teach people, so we know about different learning styles. We will help our children learn in the way that’s best for them. We believe that it’s our job to keep our children healthy and safe. We’ll be an active family swimming, hiking, and ice skating in the fresh air. Nutrition is important -- Leslie is a good cook who likes to make healthy dinners from scratch. Now, we’re not health nuts – we love chocolate and send out for pizza now and then. We are active and go to the gym to stay in shape. We’re both healthy and fit. Adam’s sister is a pediatrician, so it’s nice to have a hotline to ask about any little health concern. |
